… to become too urgent. I had suggested considering whether one should not attach the whole thing to the official German-French cooperation ,so to speak at the political level. He advised against this very strongly, because the towns in France had great independence and frequently met all requests from Paris with hesitation or mistrust. He is digging at Chatillon, and also wanted to return to the excavation there and wanted to speak again with the mayor about it . He thought that by spring one might perhaps reach a solution. I am very glad to know you are, for some time, removed from the political turmoil of the Near East and I already look forward to a meeting, whether in Mainz or in Paris. Please do not forget your promise to bring your wife with you on a visit to Mainz .

With very warm greetings

always your devoted

H. J. Hundt (H.-J.Hundt)
