I have not written to you untilnow, because I thought you had on your excavations so much work that a letter could only disturb you. Of course we are happy to conserve the clay tablet for you. Please send it calmly from Kehl to Mainz. Only I would like to recommend very good packing, so that the valuable piece in no way suffers damage. Our trip to Paris was a great success. Admittedly we owe a whole part of this success to the great helpfulness and resourcefulness of Mr Joffroy's assistant, Dr. Mohen. He once worked 1 year at the Musée de l'Armée, so that he could pave the way for us to the 11 daggers of this museum. We found then with some difficulty the right workshop for X-ray images ] at the Centre d'Études de Prévention. It is the largest technical X-ray laboratory in France with 20 powerful X-ray apparatuses and 15 gammaray devices. They carry out material tests, pipelines etc. in themselves. After some persuasion the Louvre, the Cabinet des Médailles, the Musée de l'Armée and the Musée Carnavalet brought their daggers there and we were able to make all the necessary images there .I am very happy about this outcome of our efforts. Of course we were also with Mr Joffroy. He promised us every helpfulness regarding moulds, and also gave us a fine La Tène helmet for conservation.
