Homécourt, 3 April 1936.-
My dear friend,
I have duly received your letter of 12 March and immediately we examined the sample of metal that you sent me and which comes from Erimi. The sample was not important, but nevertheless we were able to make a fairly accurate analysis. We found:
Tin ........ 0,150 Lead ........ traces Copper .......99,60 Iron ...........0,21
There was no zinc, no nickel, no sulphur, no silver, no gold. Given that this metal dates from the millennium before Christ, there is every reason to think that it is native copper; the analysis corresponds moreover quite well.
I should be grateful if you would tell me whether this fragment comes from a manufactured object and what shape this object was.
I am at your disposal as always for all the studies that you would like to entrust me with and which I shall carry through as well as I can.
Your letter does not tell me whether Madame SCHAEFFER is with you. I hope that
