My dear Friend,
I have duly received your letter of 12 March and we immediately examined the sample of metal that you sent me and which comes from Erimi. The reconnaissance was not important, yet we were nevertheless able to make a fairly exact analysis. We found:
Tin ....... 0,150 Lead ....... traces Copper ....... 99,60 Iron ........ 0,21
There was no zinc, no nickel, no sulphur, no silver, no gold. The state given that this metal dates from the middle of before Christ, there is every reason to think that it is native copper; the analysis corresponds it will be used quite well.
I would be grateful if you would tell me whether this fragment comes from a manufactured object and what was the form of that object.
I am at your disposal as always for all the studies you would kindly entrust to me, which I will do free of charge as far as possible.
Your letter gives me pleasure and Madame SCHAEFFER is with you. I hope that
