Enkomi-Alassi - 21-IX-54
Dear Mr Megaw,
We did not find the right keys yesterday and I decided to return to Enkomi and time went on. When the keys are found, perhaps you could give some boy to go there with Masson to have a look on the pottery.
Masson will also ask you some details about his work. For if you ask him, as you told me, to publish in your volume the inscriptions, he would probably have made some referite drawings & photos for his study. He also told me that he would need to study the recent inscriptions & the tablet found by us last year when they are cleaned. But I doubt if Plumderleth will have returned them before he leaves the island end of the month. So I wonder if you could ask Plud. to have sent them back to Paris Embassy & that I would return them to London towards the end of the year for final despatch to you. It is a bit complicated but, perhaps, you could arrange. If that is not possible, there is the solution that the objects are kept in London & I'll try to get the money for Masson to fly over there to study the objects before their departure to Nicosia. —
Final question: my wife & we arrive on the 5th Oct. by air, bringing the new theodolite - tachymeter with other topogr. instrument; they are hand-kept. Could you tell the customs people that they are for an[illegible] expedition [illegible]
