Monsieur Claude Schaeffer Archaeological Mission French
Dear Director,
I received yesterday (via Malta) your kind letter of 17 May 1949 and I hasten to express my very warm thanks for the offprint copy concerning the excavations at Enkomi that you were good enough to send me.
It is for me a very interesting documentation that I add to that that you were good enough to send me previously (during the summer of 1947) and which showed the hall of the bronzes and the first clearance works of the site that you are bringing up to date.
You ask me kindly to transfer to your C.C. at Barclay's the amount of the Government grant. I am forwarding a copy of your letter to Mr P. ARMAND, our Consul at Malta, who already asked me at the end of April whether he could collect in order to sign the various receipts not only for the present grant but also for that of 1948, which remains constantly outstanding (in the sense of Consular accounting at least, since we only have receipts from Mr Megaw and from Barclay's).
As I have obtained a leave of three months and am leaving for France this week, I would be grateful if you would be so kind as to contact Mr Armand, so that he makes the transfer directly to Barclay's Famagusta.
Please accept, Sir, the expression of my distinguished consideration.
