17 May 1949

Mr J. Lapierre, Consul of France, Larnaca, Cyprus.

Dear Sir,

I sent you a few months ago a packet with offprints relating to the excavations at Enkomi. The packet must have been sent to Malta, from where I hope it was forwarded to you. I had also added offprints for the Consul of Malta, for the Antiquities Service at Nicosia and for Mr Mogabgab at Famagusta. I add here a duplicate for you.

This note is to tell you that I will return to Cyprus probably in September for the continuation of our research at Enkomi, where meanwhile our English partner Megaw-Dikaios, according to our "combined operation" agreements, have carried out two successful campaigns, of which you have no doubt had news.

A credit of 2.000 L.Chyp. will reach you for your work in 1949 and our contribution to the costs of the Franco-English mission. I ask you to transfer it to my account at the Barclay's Bank at Famagusta. It is probable that I will send my two architects a little before me to Enkomi so that they begin the clearing.

I look forward to seeing you again and resuming research in this country so interesting for archaeologists.

Please believe, dear Mr Lapierre, in all my best sentiments.
