… separate layer of reddish-brown bottom earth of the same kind as often is found nearest the rock and which is almost always without finds. A layer section at a suitable place gives the following results, with the figures measured from the crest of the south wall, which lies only insignificantly below the surface of the earth:
| 1 | 0,00 | Brown plough-soil layer contain- |
| ing bronze objects. | ||
| 2 | 0,30 | (Charcoal-) ash layer containing |
| gold, silver and bronze objects | ||
| The layer less dark than on | ||
| the inside of the south wall. | ||
| 3 | Reddish-brown subsoil. | |
| The rock |
there can be no doubt that the ash layers on the inner and outer side of the south wall are one and the same and thus belong to a period earlier than the temple building. The similarity of the finds and the appearance of the earth speaks for this.
