The cutting, which is called depression 1 east (trench east of the theatre), has on the whole the shape of a square with extended corners and its edges and walls are at least partly clearly cut with tools and not natural. A layer section in the eastern trench wall has the following appearance:

1)0 - 0,20Dark arable soil
2)— 0,32Dark coarse, loose rock-gravel fill
3)— 0,45Light hard packed — " —
4)— 1,00Brown earth with mixed pottery
5)— 1,70Loose dark rock-gravel fill (coarse)

At this depth lies the highest part of the wall of the recess (the wall is here only slightly preserved.) The recess itself is filled with a somewhat looser rock gravel mixed with dark earth, which however does not at all have the character of anything like the bottom layer (the body layer) in a tomb. In the recess bottom itself, at a depth of 2,65 m, measured from the same 0-point as above.
