30/10The squares Δ 1, Ε 1 and Z 1 are divided into one-metre squares and dug in 10-cm. levels. The sections are drawn as far as possible and give the indication that an undisturbed Neolithic cultural layer lies at the bottom of the above-mentioned squares. It is grouped on either side of a stone setting which is crowned by a clay layer. The consistency of the layer is hard and it consists of greasy mould earth of reddish hue mixed with charcoal, sherds and flint fragments.

31/10The stone setting is packed in hard chavara mixed earth which contains a great quantity of Neolithic sherds. These make up the only ceramic material apart from 3 pieces of geometric sherds. Nevertheless I am convinced that the stone heap is geometric. This on the following grounds.

The rock cutting in Γ 1 - Γ 2 (see diary of 26/10) has turned out to be a geometric rock-cut dromos. It was, as said was, filled with a mass of thrown-down stones and earth containing mixed pottery, among other things.
