91Cross trench I is turning out to be somewhat rewarding. Several walls emerge in the base layer and they are remarkably high and well-preserved. Description follows later in one context. In the surface layer at at the 5th metre an aryball is found. At c. 7th metre sherds of a large pithos lie collected at a depth of 100 - 130. They are packed in a wooden box. Besides, it is reason to draw attention to all sherd material from this section, since a good deal seems to me repairable. The pithos is Mycenaean. Otherwise the strata lie very clear: down to c. 0.50 m is Archaic and early Classical and beneath down to the base geometric and Mycenaean. The place where the pithos stood is reinforced with sun-dried chaff-mixed clay in three pieces
