Dali - the excavation 1928

I. Vasilika

21/5The area, which is to become the object of investigation, consists of a level field lying beside and south of the road between Pera Chorio and Dali. Some years ago a man from Pera Chorio dug a small pit beside a wild medlar tree and there found three small statues of limestone, together with a geometric terracotta rider. On 8/5 we made a small trial pit beside the tree and found some geometric and archaic figurine fragments and a wall.

A couple of metres west of this pit a trench 2 m. wide is laid out to obtain a section through the area. The western side of the trench is the 0-line, which is divided into metres. The trench is called Stora profilen.
