… large quantity of sherds, evidently thrown out at the plundering of the chamber.

the dromos to 412 is followed further and the road is cut off. South of the round recess where the skeletons lay, the dromos continues, diverging from the original direction and curving towards the east.

3 m. east of tomb 422 a positive trial pit is completed and the clearing begins of the dromos to tomb 423. There is no doubt that the tomb is worked and plundered, but the work is nevertheless continued. Thus the earth in the dromos is very loose and only at c. 0.30 m depth the pick strikes the defectively covered gateway to the chamber. At 1.10 m. distance from the gateway and at 0.55 m. depth from the rock edge the earth is unworked. The plunderers apparently went down in the usual way into the tomb chamber through a narrow shaft next to the gateway itself. Above the chamber there has been a quarry but the roof of the same has nevertheless held.
