… on this plateau very soft and porous and seems unsuitable for rock-cut tombs. Trial pits 5 and 6 negative, with the same kind of rock lacking firmness. Beside the road in line with Markides' tomb and the so-called tomb 1, a further trial pit is opened, no. 9, also negative. All the trial pits are cleared down to the rock and are found to be negative. The excavation is concluded.
