Terracotta head of a bearded figure with large eyes and a chevron-patterned beard — Photograph: Swedish Cyprus Expedition, 1927–31. Medelhavsmuseet, Stockholm, Csn0382. Public domain (CC0).

Description

A terracotta head of a bearded figure, shown frontally against a pale grey backdrop. The large, heavily rimmed eyes, flat nose and small moustache stand out, and the beard is incised with close herringbone-like chevron lines. A cap-like headdress with horizontal ridges and projecting ears frame the face, and the surface shows wear and fine cracks on the cheek.
