Limestone Cypro-Greek I Kition III

Weathered limestone head from Kition, shown in side view on a white pedestal — Photograph: Swedish Cyprus Expedition, 1927–31. Medelhavsmuseet, Stockholm, C09013. Public domain (CC0).

Description

A weathered limestone head, a sculpture fragment, is shown in three-quarter side view turned to the left. A raised band runs across the brow beneath a smooth, rounded upper part, and a large ear is modelled on the side. The face is worn, with the chin and lower left edge broken away, and the head rests on a plain white pedestal with a thin rod support against a grey backdrop; a number label appears at the bottom edge.
