Pottery Bichrome IV, Plate - Jug

Bichrome IV jug with a single handle, its pale body painted in dark with a large bird-like motif and spirals — Photograph: Swedish Cyprus Expedition, 1927–31. Medelhavsmuseet, Stockholm, C08703a. Public domain (CC0).

Description

A globular jug with a single strap handle rising from the rim to the shoulder and a flaring, spout-like mouth. The pale body is decorated in dark paint with a large bird-like figure with a hooked beak, spirals, hatched bands and a stylised plant on the left. Cracks run across the surface, and the jug stands alone against a plain grey backdrop.
