Pottery Pithos Ware (Acc.680)

Large pottery pithos, broken and mended, propped with wooden sticks in a storeroom — Photograph: Swedish Cyprus Expedition, 1927–31. Medelhavsmuseet, Stockholm, C08648. Public domain (CC0).

Description

A tall, round-bodied jar with a broad mouth and faint horizontal bands on its shoulder, made of many reassembled fragments with visible cracks and some missing areas. Wooden struts hold it upright on a dusty floor, and wooden crates, planks and a pale wall stand behind it in a workshop-like room. The photograph is a straight frontal view of the whole vessel.
