Red Polished II bowl from Lapithos with incised concentric circles and zigzag bands — Photograph: Swedish Cyprus Expedition, 1927–31. Medelhavsmuseet, Stockholm, C03362. Public domain (CC0).

Description

A round-bodied bowl with an open mouth and a small projecting lug near the rim, shown in side view on a plain surface. Its dark surface is decorated with incised lines, some filled with pale infill: a band of diagonal lozenges below the rim, horizontal grooves, a large concentric-circle motif with a vertical line through it, and vertical hatched bands on the left. The surface is worn and pitted, especially near the base.
