Pottery White Painted IV-V bowl (A.J.6.84)

White Painted IV-V bowl with a loop handle, interior decorated with a cross-shaped grid pattern in dark paint — Photograph: Swedish Cyprus Expedition, 1927–31. Medelhavsmuseet, Stockholm, C02730c. Public domain (CC0).

Description

A round bowl with a single loop handle rising from the rim at the top, photographed from above so that its interior is visible. The pale interior has a dark painted pattern of cross-shaped bands filled with grid or checkerboard hatching, and some of the surface has worn away. The thick, rounded rim and the shadow on the light backdrop show the bowl set down on a flat surface, with the photograph mounted on a grey card.
