Description

A trench at Ayia Irini with many broken vessels and fragments lying in situ on the excavated floor. Several workers, mostly women in headscarves and long dresses, stand and sit along the trench edges, and a man in a dark waistcoat and cap stands at the right. A large pale block sits in the foreground, and a long pole leans across the trench beside the spoil heaps.
