Description

A vertical cut face of excavated soil dominates the frame, with darker and lighter layers and many small stones packed into it. A thin wooden stick stands at the top edge of the cut, and spoil heaps of earth lie behind it on the upper ground. At the bottom, a smoother flat floor of packed earth runs across the foreground, with a few pale stones lying on it.
