Description

A deep excavation cutting photographed looking down into the trench. A tall face of layered, crumbly soil runs along the right side, and a pale stone block with a stepped, projecting edge stands on the left. A thin cord stretches diagonally across the top of the cutting, and a vertical pole with markings stands at the upper right edge, probably for scale.
