Description

A group of about ten people, women in headscarves and long dresses, a man in a hat and a young boy, stand at the edge of a deep excavated cut. Heaps of loose earth surround the pit, and a rope runs down into it. Low hills and scattered bushes fill the flat landscape behind.

Description, scan 2
A group of about nine people stands at the edge of a deep excavated dromos, a sloping cut in the ground. A boy stands at far left and a man in a wide-brimmed hat stands near the centre, with women in headscarves and long dresses beside them. A rope runs down into the cut, and heaps of loose excavated earth lie around the trench under a bare, open landscape with low hills behind.
