Description

About fifteen people, men and women, work in and around a trench cut through a field above the sea. Large stone blocks and wall foundations are exposed in the trench, with a heap of excavated soil at right. Some workers hold shovels and picks while others stand along the edges, and green crops and a sandy slope fill the background.

A group of about eighteen people, men and women in headscarves and light clothing, work in a trench cut across a slope. Large dressed stone blocks line the trench in the foreground, and a heap of excavated earth lies beside a wheelbarrow at right. Grassy fields, a dirt track and low scrubby hills run back to the sea, with a few tents at the right edge.
