White Painted I bowl from Lapithos, with a pedestal foot and painted bands and panels — Photograph: Swedish Cyprus Expedition, 1927–31. Medelhavsmuseet, Stockholm, C00397. Public domain (CC0).

Description

A pedestal bowl with a wide open mouth, a handle on the left and a rounded body that narrows to a tall stem and flat round foot. Dark painted bands run around the body, with vertical panels between them filled with hatching and a branching, plant-like motif. A crack runs down the side and across the lower body, the surface is worn in places, and the bowl stands on a pale surface against a grey backdrop.
