Bronze Age Gold and Silver, plaque (L.403.41)

Embossed metal plaque with a raised face framed by a ridged headdress; the sheet is crumpled and torn at the edges — Photograph: Swedish Cyprus Expedition, 1927–31. Medelhavsmuseet, Stockholm, C00192. Public domain (CC0).

Description

The plaque fills the frame against a black background. A raised face with eyes, a broad nose and a closed mouth sits within a headdress of vertical ridges, and a rounded band runs below it. The thin metal sheet is crumpled, torn and scratched, with a crack running down the right side and losses along the lower left edge.
