Moulded bust fragment of a standing woman, Classical period
Object card: 1968. Mission archéologique française de Kition-Salamine (MOM, Lyon), Nakala, SAL_4546. "Moulded bust fragment of a standing woman, Classical period". CC BY 4.0. Resized.
Hollow-moulded bust fragment of a standing woman, showing the breast, shoulder and upper arm (?), without the back; the back is smooth with a ridged join. Buff-pink fabric with well-preserved cream slip. Width 9.6; height 11.3. A heavy mantle (himation) falls vertically from the shoulder beside the breast, which it leaves bare, in broad parallel folds in very marked relief; the breast is well rounded, underlined by a curve (?). Over the upper breast are remains of a necklace with four swollen conical pendants. To the left of the mantle is an unidentifiable element marked with vertical incisions, which probably covered the upper arm (?). Inventory Tc_1698; 4 October 1968. Salamis, south of the rampart, square K VI/δ3.
