Trench 7 South Section Section - Δ - Θ Plans pp 9-10, p. 20 Stratification This trench, the first opened within the walls, has been cleared down farther than any other similar section. The stratification here received a different numbering than elsewhere within the walls. Stratum 1: This agrees with other such strata. It is reddish soil turned black by vegetation in some places. It is lacking in E, where a path along the wall kept the surface clean; in Z the depth is only c. 10 cms. In Z it gains great depth where wind-and-rain carried soil filled in the hollow where the ancient filling dropped. The layer swells to 50 cm depth, then shallows again to 10 cm. in I. The stratum is disturbed and of little stratigraphic value. Stratum 2: This is a section 7 deep red earth, actually rotted bedrock, which forms stratum to in the track but disappears in section Θ, where it was carried up over the fallen debris 7 the wall good way, probably by rain. Stratum 3: Within the wall 3 corresponds very nearly to 2 outside in appearance. It is composed of medium sized rough xapatpa stones and their rot; it drops about 1,50 m with the wall in delta, gradually thinning out. Its fallen remains end in H. Stratum 4: This stratum 7 light red earth
