24. Nov28-30, 1938 7. Horses Groups of two horses which require human body between. 8. Human bodies headed or headless, which go between two horses. 9. Chariots and chariot horses needing parts of rider or driver. 10. Headless bodies of chariot riders or drivers. I shall progress with another section tomorrow. I label all pieces of chariot & "beare of horses" group -- NW 1 is then "1" only, NW 1 = "11"; NW 2 = "+"; they are then all placed together. No. of joins: 14. Nov. 29: Euthymios finished the separation of the "small parts" this morning and helped Antonis the rest of the day at joining. I put these in order, then continued with the resubdivision of the bodies, which already proved fruitful today from those I had set out yesterday. This afternoon the catalogue of the sherds was resumed, and tonight I've finished the handles. Christos busied himself as usual. Add to symbol list SE 1 = III, SW 1 = IIII, NW ". No. of joins: 17. Nov. 30: This morning the socks and other pieces from the small parts were all put in order, the rest of the work went on as usual, and I spent the remainder of the morning in continuing the re-arrangement. New signs: - SE 2 = H, SW 2 = V In the afternoon I decided to go to Limassol

Nov 30Dec 1, 1938 25. with George to attend to some long-delayed matters, and left the work to Christos, giving Euthymios two baskets of bases to sort - we shall now go through these baskets. He separates as follows: 1. Bases of carriages chariot groups requiring men. These are lettered and go to their place with the other carriage chariot parts. They are all together 2. Bases of "man + 2 horses" groups - they receive the same treatment as 1. 3. Bases for horses legs with the two joined legs of the horse upon them. These go to the basket of horses of the same section. 4. Bases for horses legs without the legs. These are put in bags, section by section, tagged, and all placed in one large basket. 5. Bases and pieces of carriage groups: these are left for the present in the baskets, according to section. No. of joins: 23 Dec 1 Antonis and Nicos worked at joins today Euthymios was given two more baskets of chariots, bases, etc., to separate, and also went to Pamboula for Christos. Christos, besides mending, is still at work on the "group" pieces, a tedious job but one which produces little for the time, but that little, it seems to me, of greatest chronological importance. This afternoon I finished the re-arrangement of the work room, and tonight hope to finish the sherds. No. of joins: 15.
