18. | Nov. 18 - Nov 19, 1938 This morning the three baskets brought in from the altar were assorted. The one basket, labelled by Mr. McFadden XXV, and 7 EH, is for convenience in the workroom called "E H"; the other two, labelled γύρω γύρω από τον βωμόν, are likewise called "TT". Number of joins: 15 Nov. 19: Christos' work goes on with the "soapy" terracottas. Antonis was absent today - in Limassol on court witness summons - and I decided to change the workshop arrangement. All heads being which are broken off sharply at the neck have now been so greatly reduced in number by joins that they will all go on the large table, which was accordingly fitted out with wooden division strips and the pieces were shifted around so that all the such heads were on the table, by section. I further separated the divisions from back to front by a: heads burned black b: Heads of ordinary color and breaks c: Heads where headdress should also appear on shoulders. d: Heads which have broken on the original point of join, which is always visible on the neck of the body. I hope that these heads will thus be rapidly cleared up - there are about 500 of them still unjoined. This afternoon further cataloguing. Number of joins: 23

Nov. 2022, 1938 | 19. Nov. 20: Sunday and quiet - no work. Nov. 21: Antonis, Kyriakos & Nicolas hunted for joins today, but only Antonis worked, with the result that the number of joins are low. Euthymios completed the reinspection of the baskets of horses, hunting for those with possible traces of riders and those with riders complete. The former were sent to the join room, the latter catalogued and stored away - This took up a good part of my morning. The afternoon I spent in cataloguing the extraordinary terracottas which Christos has mended, and began the pottery catalogue. A small cup was catalogued (no. P 1102) reading in retrograde Cyprode τω θεω. The "soapy clay" relief terracotta group is a real mendiny jig-saw, and I've decided to sacrifice my big work table tomorrow, using one of McFadden's small ones, and bring out all the fragments of these pieces onto one table in the light of day, and Christos and I will go at them. Number of joins: 16 Nov 22: Today Kyriakos and Antonis worked as usual at the joining of heads, rather slowly. I set Euthymios to sorting out baskets of "small pieces" - the most difficult an comprehensive of our original groupings. He is only to put the various sorts in separate piles on the floor, including a pile he doesn't recognize, and I shall go through them again before I put them
