-156- is a good wall of which lower part is certainly contemp with -143-. Upper part contains piece of brink, as does S. end. It goes, however, with -141- of which lower part surely goes with it. -140- seen from north shows an opening blocked when fill had risen to level ca .40 below nearby mosaic. From S, the fill of door goes deeper to a floor? level ca. 0.70 below mosaic of Rm. —, The door block contains tile, frags of waterproof b.p. cement. and smear of white hard cement-plaster. The voussoir block on W jamb is earlier than blocking of door. It has pink cement between it and block below , same as appears lower on same constn. This wall is contemp with -143-, -129- and lower part of E. wall of E. main corridor. Place where latter wall appears to bridge soft fill is fallacious - the wall had a pier, but was removed. (Cement on under side of block that crosses the gap.) Opening 1.06 m. at E end of wall also seems to have been blockedhas more b.p. cement. where all rest of wall is grey or pink.

July. 6Bath. Eside, Can Room E, ~~North wall~\ & East wall of Rm U, be contemp.? They look so. There is a continuation of E. wall of Room F running N, under the angular wall of X. The join between angle (N.E) of Room I, with S face of Rm E, has pebble plaster smeared around it for a foot or so, and the chink between the angles is filled with sea pebblessuch as are not found in rest of Room E. but do occur in wall (N) of Room I. Ergo, Room E, and wall running N from it antedate Room I the northern wall of I, with blocked door is perhaps later, for it rests on fill, but blocking of door goes with establ. of Room U with its floor. and building of bench wall on its N. side. The part of E wall of U, above floor is contemp. for it overhangs E. face of wall below This accounts for piece of black pebble plaster to be seen in it.
Room. E. South wall later than mid-wall. Note how ends of mid-wall align with continuation of corridor! Suggest they were once returned southto meet corner blocks of N. wall of L. No blocked door in NE corner of A. Part of W wall, room A, orig. In fact it may have been divided in two
