(Trench 86) at this level, and in the NW corner are 2 stones about size of a man's head. The corner E W and S where no stratum is distinguishable at this level is the corner cut off by a wall not however preserved to the ht. of the wall, consisting at present mostly of a foundation of small stones reaching up to ca. 2.30 below surface of trench. At the S end [margin left: Toward NE, wall breaks off, apparently cut through by some subsequent diggers] of this wall a few large blocks are preserved which come up to the level of the under side of the layer of stones. aligned with the wall, but the wall's stones seem to go over it (uncertain N part of layer), a stone sarcophagus [illegible] and roughly made, the end of which sticks out from the N scarp; 2 visible stones of its cover are a bit out of true with each other, and the whole thing tilted as it lies - presumably fallen with caving in of tomb beneath. (Trench 86) almost to present top of sarcophagus), lower rock strips of chavara. In the W scarp of the trench the pebbly layer slopes downward toward the S, - fall? Directly under the end of the sarcophagus there seems to be some of this pebbly material: the sarcoph. may have rested on top and [illegible] pushed some of the pebbly layer down with it into the tomb below doorway. About 1 meter below bottom of sarcophagus, pebbly rock which seems quite pure, so much so that Christos thinks it is in situ, possibly but may be just a lot that fell at once as in fill of Tomb 9. Under this a different soft kind of rock (?) not pebbly, which covers unevenly what ought to be the floor of [margin left: ⊕ see p. 898] the tomb. Following the margin of the lower pebbly rock (?) fill, is a shallow channel cut in the sandy rock (?) below, channel ca. .15 wide. In the fill under the wall, at ca. 1.70 below its generally preserved top (mentioned as 2.30 below surface), a cut stone
