Sherds 7/VI/41 Tr. 43 extension south of of dromos (containing) dromos of tomb 42: to c. 4.20 below edge of upper dromos: bags of common bowl (thin glaze) ware: join to frag. from Lot [87]. Frg. of base of coarse ware pithos and flint (core) whe. join in to [23]. Frg. of bath alabastron: etc.: all gritty tilelike fabric: also some white fabric large by of coarse ware. "5 cured x green bottle" indist. large. current T. s. covers most of the floor of our trench, and in general now that I get down and look at it, [^earth] looks like dromos fill, so sherds changed. Depth measured after a.m. digging 4.20 below edge of dromos. The tunnel being investigated ends after ^c. 42 his an entrance closed 19.29,130 - p. 169 by stones: evidently another tomb in turn: (5 or 6 meters of earth over it)

166 8/VI/41 Sunday 9/VI/41 Morning early & late afternoon was at dig, otherwise Limassol. Some work continued in new dromos under oblique dromos of Tomb 1.

10/VI/41 Phot. (2 ways) 18.33, 34 See opposite of fill in and over well behind long cut stone in dromos of Tombs 9, 1. The slope on the surface had been claimed as that of a change of earth when digging Tr. 43/75 (see pp. 110 & 112,¹¹⁸ "crusty red sand"). Cutting away now the top of the slope to find the margin of the well all round. The return of Wall C encroaches on it. The slope of sand covered most of it. Phot. its end while the slope still to be made out by dampness because newly dug. Wall C people cut a little way into the sand - or built a little into an empty well? - and stopped. <Clear: unless container well> well was full before building of C; find charcoal-earth in obscurities, rather than the plains sand. Have cleared the top of the fill in the back of the well, also around and cut back somewhat the scarp of the dug part.
