to be the natural stratification of the torrent fill "rock" which found E side of Tomb 9. If the star doesn't close a burial place, it was put to prop up the soft wall over it. Small stones are wedged^(?) over it and under the rock. On the other side of our cut the scarp shows more and more clay and quite loose and open toward entrance of Tomb 1, though without clear line. A bit of the pebble-rock preserved between [illegible] of Tomb 9 & Tomb 1, [insertion: and] a bit under side of Wall A. Phot. [insertion: 18.4 (p. 141)] to show the underpinnings of Wall A, half "rock" half intrusion (dromos fill?) and another continuing that along the center line of Tomb 1, [illegible] cut to show jutting out of stones. ?"Outside" Wall A have cleared at its bottom Wall C, which makes a corner under it and seems to be abut on an outcropping of rock running from under the E end of Wall A [insertion: (?no - apparently goes by it)].

Still no satisfactory distinguishing of change of earth here. Cut a narrow strip at rt. angles to corner of Wall C to try to read stratification to the wall and find where to stop fill (intrusion?). begun.

In the explorat. cut, ca. .90 below top of Wall C, and ca. .90 S of it, pcm of bones and charcoal. Bones put with sherds ^{[Lot 191]}
