wall now down to where it was in 43/75 on p. 102, i.e. level of surface of stony layer inside wall (floor?). a floor outside not definitely found. Unfortunate that no drawing or study was made of the scarp of the extension of 43 over its oblique trench before cutting down this upper earth. Trim carefully now, getting full bit to surface at W corner of 43/75. Cannot clean the any different at the level of this stratum. Christo says it just gets a little harder not very abruptly. The lower earth seems a little stonier - cf. the thicker stony layer on "inside" of wall. The wall itself does not continue quite to the edge of Tr. 43/75 of course. There seems, at the other end of it now uncovered, to be a doorway.
