(20/V/41) Tr. 43/75 (from P. 95) The surface at ca. 1.00 cleared all over. Down to this, all the LOT 4 sherds are one bag smaller than a man's head; include some glazed ware, especially a large Turkish? piece from the flat bottom of a cylindrical jar, yellow glaze inside dark drips outside. etc. [See p. 95.] Clearing just under (?) surface of stratum a lot of stones large and small, among which something like part of a wall at the SW NE end, cutting across obliquely. This surface is the top of the stony layer in the drawing opposite of part of the E side of Tr. 75 (upper part now dug away, lower part not drawn). The surface is the floor, apparently, of the building of which the oblique wall runs across the SW end of the trench. Outside (SW) of this wall level of strata said to be same, but not stony, and no stones in scarp of extension of Tr. 43 over oblique section of Tomb 1. The floor covers all the rest of Tr. 43/75. (Some doubt about part of it being another broken down piece of wall) Photographs of Tr. 43/75 at this level. Dug into the floor. Very stony, and confusing with possibilities of other walls.
