[16] | 20 21-3-39 General Start work on the Bamboula today, with 39 workmen, and, as usual, Christos Grigoriou as foreman. We continue in the well, Trench 11, extend trenches 12, 15, 16, and clear a plundered L.C. II tomb (No. 5), on the N-W slope of the Bamboula.

24-3-39 The well is 11.00 m. below the highest course.

We begin sinking a series of trial pits on the +2nd lowest terraces, N., of lot 236, and at the edge of the old Paphos road. One pit (A), near the road, reaches bed rock 0.20-0.60 below the surface. In a shallow circular cavity, we find fragments of a plain ware jug and a small jug with side-spout (p. 18, # 4-5). These seem to belong to the settlement.

27-3-39 Photo Bam.'39. 19 of pit A with pots, p. 18, # 4-5, in situ. About 15 m. south of pit A we sink another pit, B. Red earth is reached 0.20 from the surface. This goes down without any (To p. 43)
