Photo Bam. '39. 108 of 21:8 cleared to tumble (8.05 W) Start removing the tumble. Against the E. wall there seem to be two periods of tumble. The upper stops with a change to lighter earth. Photo Bam. '39. 112 of E. wall, showing first tumble removed.

27.4.39 Remove the tumble, which lies in several different types of loose earth: with much burnt matter in the north. It all ends at 8.25 with sandy greyish-brown earth. In the S-E corner it is gritty red. 28-4.39 Photo Bam. '39. 117 of 21:8 at 8.25

1-5.39We have dug below 8.25, finding another sandy grey level at 8.28. This level is rather uneven, in many places thicker than at the point measured. Photo Bam '39. 120 at 8.28 Dig below 8.28, finding a floor of chavara plaster in the center, at 8.38. This is cut by many pits, which must account for the very uneven texture + colour of the earth we have been cutting. Close to the E wall of 21:8 there (to p. 157)
