Pit B: Tr. 20: 10 obvious change, to what appears to be a broad stairway, of bed-rock below, and firm chavara paving above. A broad cutting in the rock, apparently the foundation trench of a wall, runs along the W. side of the stairway. Two deep narrow circular holes in front of the wall seem to be post-holes.

Another pit, C, 3 m. east of B, reveals building remains, probably related to those in B.

Red earth was found at 9.20. This stops at ashy burnt debris, down. The chavara floor is at 9.22. Much pottery, including p. 18, # 7-8, complete, is found on the ashy layer. An intrusion caused considerable damage east south of the ante: & west

Pit D = 20:26 Pit D, close to the north of tomb # 5, at the edge of the cliff, reveals house walls above the cliff, and cuttings, certainly (To p. 45)
