earth is grayer, very sandy & clean. (To p. 79)
In 2E3 West dig down finding a floor with many sherds in the S-W. patn 50 It is of somewhat gritty brown clay earth with considerable ash. There was a little fine greybrown earth over it. There is a difference in the earth from 11.40 to the earth over the 11. 50 floor, running about parallel to the N-S walls of Tr. 2 (L.C. III) and turning about opposite the S. wall of 2:27. It may represent a wall over the level over 11.50, and is indicated on the plan.
Dig below 11.40 in the east, finding the earth over the 11.50 floor, stopping at the "wall" line. Photo 117 at earth over floor showing wall line.
Cut the earth in the wall line, and start to clear the 11.50 floor, which continues under the "wall" line.
16-5-38to 17-5-38 2E3 West. The 11.50 floor is actually accumulation over the original floor, at 11.62. Many sherds rest on the 11.50 level, but others go down to 11.62 (To p. 77)
