floor. This seems to be the base of the crushed rock floor. Along the east we find a change to more disturbed earth. A grey streak through it goes down onto the east wall of the room. The 10.24 floor dips where the depression was noted at 9.92 = 10.16. There are several stones and several patches of gravel here. South of this, to the north wall of 4:12, and outside its E. wall (4:10) we find a firm, trodden sandy level with a fair amount of ash, at 10.20
12-4-38 Finish clearing in the change of earth which seems to represent the E. wall of 4:13, finding a few stones secured with clayey mud. Clear the gravel patches going below the 10.24 level in the south. They are quite irregular in shape, and give no indication as to their purpose, if any. The grey earth against the wall to 4:12 rests on the same clayey red earth as was found elsewhere at the 10.24 level.
