2:16 Remove the last remaining earth, finding rock everywhere.

2:3 In the course of clearing 2:24 find the line where the N & W walls of 2:3 cut into the rock of 2:24. The earth in the cutting is red and gritty, almost certainly undisturbed, probably tumble. This starts flush with the 9.13= 9.85 (rock) level in 2:24, at 9.68. in the west piece, in the east. (to p. 125)

2:24. Start clearing out the prehistoric fill. It is of decomposed rock, as noted on p. 117.

24·3·37 2:24 Change sherds ca. 30 cm. down. There is no real change in the fill, save perhaps at the west end, where it was redder and grittier until now; the change was made chiefly in order not to have any outside sherds in this lot. Photo [illegible] 167 of 2:24 cleared to rock, with prehistoric fill cut down ca. 30 cm. Before cutting below 9.68 in 2:3 and small piece at 9.85 in 2:16. Cut below to a change flush with 10.40 : 10.59 in 2:25A & leave for time being.
