Dig below 9.68 through gritty red earth, probably tumble, and find a consistent sandy red level at 9.80. Digging through this, the earth turns greyer at 9.82. A pit is cut through this level and covered by the 9.80 level.

Friday and today we have cleaned the 9.35 = 9.47 floor, removing all but the big quern, and cleaning patches of earth left on the floor. The paving (plaster of sorts) does not continue to the E. wall. Either it is cut by a footing trench, or else it was cut through by us. A small pit is found near the E. wall. It is deep, and stops at rock. It cuts earth. Photo Bam 174 of 2:5 at this level
