18.5.37 TRENCH 2 from p. 25 Unit 26: Dig below the 10.86 = 10.94 floor floor, through clean sandy brown earth, to a firm floor of packed brown earth with much many red-brown and limestone grits. This, at 10.93 = 10.97, seems to have been the original floor.

Unit 27 East: 2nd E. ext. of unit 25E: Dig below 10.91, finding the 10.74 = 11.07 an intermediate level at 11.00, and then the 10.74 = 11.07 level of the 1st ext. at 11.10. We have now united the two extensions, and will deal with them together.

Unit 27: E. ext. of unit 25E: Dig below 10.74 = 11.10, through loose redbrown day earth.

Unit 25 A: Remove the inscribed pithos, p. 16, #3 and the sherds and stone implements which appear at this level (10.35 = 10.57) Photo Bam 116 of unit 25A at 10.35 = 10.57, showing objects in situ.

The 10.35 = 10.57 level is in most places an accumulation over the true floor, so we start to cut through it to the original floor, at 10.40 = 10.59 (to p. 29)
