It is slightly softer than bedrock, however. In the S.E corner the fill is of brown earth with decomposed sandstone.

29-4-37 Unit 22: The 11.08 11.04-11.12 floor slopes up sharply onto the W. wall; the here floor is composed of lumps of lime, which look like imperfectly calcined limestone. To the east there is much more decomposed sandstone in the floor. It runs level to the E.wall. In the north the floor humps slightly in an E-W direction just south of the stone basin, but there is no other line of demarcation between units 21 + 22, and the 11.08 11.04-11.12 floor of unit 22 is contiguous with the 10.99-11.05 floor of unit 21. There are post-holes in the hump (see p. 139)

Dig below the 11.08 11.04 - 11.12 floor, finding a still firmer floor at 11.100 11.07 - 11.15, of greyish-brown earth with coarse + fine sand and pieces of limestone up to ca. 4 cm. sq. (to p. 125)
