insert p. 117… noted 20.6.37 The 10.86 level in unit 17 should perhaps be regarded as a floor. It marks a clear break in the tumbled stones, it is level, and it coincides with changes in the wall. It is flush with what seems to be a threshold in the door to unit 18, and it hits the east wall at the base of the last course of stones. This is clearly a rebuilding, following after the sealing of a door.

27.4.37 from p. 115 TRENCH 2

Unit 17 East: Dig below 10.81 through loose fill or tumble with stones, bringing this east part to the level already found in the west at 10.86. This is simply a level in tumble, so we dig below it. It is level. See p. 116 Photo Bam 93 of unit 17 at 10.86 (See p. 112)

11.08Unit 22: Dig below 10.95, finding a distinct level, probably a floor, at 11.02. It is with a great deal of coarse sand, greyish in colour due to quantities of ash. The stones stop at this level. The tumble over it was in places loose and sandy, with ash, in other places harder, with fragments of brick. There were many stones everywhere. Dig through the 11.02 floor, finding a [illegible] much firmer one 11.08 at 10.64 = 11.11.12. It is in part of brown clay with particles of lime and green sparxos, very firm, elsewhere of lime. This floor slopes up sharply at the west onto the wall or the place where the wall once was. There is a fair amount of ash. (to p. 119)
