Diary

20-11-35 There was a hard rain for several hours today, so we stopped work in the morning, continuing however in the afternoon. In spite of digging pits in the dromoi in front of the door several of the tombs took water. Worst was no. 36W, from which we removed the objects in the afternoon, from considerable mud. Begin digging in Kaloriziki field, looking for tombs between the section we dug last year and the north edge of the field. The dromoi we found were all of the broad type. Most showed unmistakeable signs of plundering where we dug. The one or two which did not had such excellent chances of being plundered from above that we left them all.

21.11.35 Investigate a narrow strip W. of by the the road, hoping to find untouched tombs to the south of the region falsely said to have been dug by Mr. Gunnis. The results were the same as yesterday's, so we left Kaloriziki altogether.
