12 Dec.50. Removed corridor 4, §45.15-7.10 m. n. of s. wall p. 141-1(a). Some of this may have been brought in by rains since 1939. For upper strata see p. 625. and 1489-90. From sieve frag. lamp saucer type, F 1491, and head iron nail & blown glass F 1492. From sieve came also ½ bucket of sherds. Removed room 5, s. side, 2549-2, down to chavara floor. This floor was cut at a distance of about 0.40 m. from s. wall, apparently in order to lay stones against walls. These may be part of foundation of wall. See film 2549-2 contained loose reddish brown soil, not very many stones, all rough ones save 1 which I am placing with tiles. Rough stones averaged about fist size - some were double fist size. 4 bucket tiles which I am stacking on early wall at 5.20 m. west of east wall. Some bits of lime plaster placed with tiles. About 1 bucket sherds. Frags- early Roman lamp F 1493. No other finds. From sieve ½ bucket sherds.

ARCHITECTURAL NOTES S. Building Room 5, counting from east Inter-columniation From s. face n. wall to n. face plinth for 1st column on w. stylobate...2.16 ½ width plinth 2.48

* wall to center 1st column is 2.48 m. center 1st col. to 2nd as measured both being in situ 1st col. at 2.53 2nd 2.53 4.81 3rd 4.35 7.14 4th 2.53 5th 2.47 11.80 6th 2.53 14.13 (theoretically) 2.33

The n. face of the s. stylobate, however, is at 14.00 m., and the 6th plinth (n. face) should be at about 0.35 m. in from n. face of stylobate hence at 14.35 m. If we allow .54 for the width of the plinth, then the axis of the 6th column should be at ½ .54 further in (0.27 m.) 14.00 .35 .127 14.62

We have found that if the actual columniation of 1 and 2 (in situ) is applied it would appear, therefore, to be an irregularity of about 0.50 m. There would appear to be an irregularity of about 0.50 m.
