9 Dec.50. Removed room 3, e. side, 1.70-5.15 north of s. wall 2297-8, loose soil save for a narrow crust on top which was hard - soil varied from reddish to brown; many rough stones averaging double fist size but some up to half bucket size. 1/2 bucket tiles which I have stacked on restored e. wall at s.e. corner of exedra 3. Over one bucket sherds. Inscribed handle with Cypriot character F 1450. No other finds. Removed from sieve 1/6 bucket sherds. Removed 2321-2, room 4, west side, 1.70-5.30 n. of s. wall; loose reddish brown soil, many rough stones averaging fist size - a few up to foot size, 1/8 bucket tiles only; appears to be all fill. Stacking tiles on e. wall at about 5.00 m. n. of s. wall; about 1 1/2 buckets sherds; saucer type lamp F 1451; lamps 1452 (frags)

Removed same trench from sieve about 1/4 bucket sherds & lamp frags. - 3 frags. F 1453. Removed, corridor 4, 2257-3, 1.75-4.60 n. of s. wall, loose reddish soil, fair number of rough stones averaging not more than fist size - largest not more than double fist size but very few of these. No worked blocks. About wheelbarrow load tiles, which I have stacked on cross wall at 4.65 m. n. of s. wall; about 1 1/2 buckets of sherds. From here come coin F 1454 and F 1455-1457 and F 1460-1. Removed from sieve about 1/4 bucket sherds; glass frags. F 1459 and lamp frags. F 1458. No other finds.

11 Dec.50. Removed corridor 1, 00-2.00 north of s. wall 2293-8, loose reddish soil without stones, no tiles, 8 sherds only - down to rock. No other finds. Nothing found in sieve. Removed room 5, s. side, 2.80-7.55 m. w. of e. wall, 2349-1(b) (sherds from 1(b thrown out as were mixed with surface finds - nothing significant) loose reddish light colored soil; not very many stones, all rough ones averaging fist size, but some were foot size. About 1/4 bucket tiles only which I am stacking on early wall at 2.70 m. w. of e. wall. Removed from sieve 1/2 bucket sherds and few bits of glass F 1463 and seal stone F 1462.

Removed from room 3, e. side, 1.70-5.15, north of s. wall 2297-9, very loose dull brown soil, rough stones averaging about fist size but a few foot size, rough ones only; about 1/2 bucket tiles which I am stacking on east wall of exedra 3 at 4.60 m. n. of s. wall. Over 1 bucket of sherds. 2 lamp frags in center of trench at bottom of strat. F 1464 and frag. figurine F 1466 and F 1465. Bronze F 1467. About 1/4 bucket sherds from sieve. Removed, corridor 2, 00-1.84 m. n. of s. wall, 2359-3, reddish brown soil, hard; fair number stones, rough ones, averaging less than fist size - about 2/1 fistsize, no large ones - about 1 bucket of tiles which I am stacking on early wall that has appeared in w. side of trench.

About 1 bucket sherds, lamp frags (5, 3 of which are Roman) F 1468, and glass, F 1469. Some nondescript badly corroded bronze frags. thrown out. From sieve 1/6 bucket sherds, glass frags F 1482 1470, and lamp frags., 4, F 1471, and coin F 1472. Removed from room 3, east side, 1.70-5.15 m. n. of s. wall, 2297-10, stratum consisting mainly of chavara, very white, loose; very few stones, 2 or 3 foot size; rest averaged fist size. 5 tile frags only; 1/6 bucket sherds. Placed tiles in sherd bag. One handle of pot with "A". No other finds. Handful of sherds from sieve thrown out.
